Development Assistant

Position Location: Los Angeles (Miracle Mile)

ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION:

California League of Conservation Voters Education Fund (CLCV Ed Fund) is a nonpartisan 501 (c)(3) organization dedicated to improving the quality of the environment for all Californians. Our programs elevate the importance of environmental issues by educating Californians and involving them in the democratic process. In addition, we build the capacity of environmental organizations by developing and providing tools and resources to help them more effectively protect the environment.

CLCV Ed Fund created and manages groundbreaking programs, including Green California, a Sacramento-based collaborative that amplifies the voice of environmental organizations and helps to advance strong environmental policy reform; polling and research to identify environmental concerns in underserved communities and increase civic participation; and List Enhancement, a tool to identify, communicate with, and involve environmental activists. In 2007, CLCV Ed Fund the Heat Is On campaign, a program to raise the visibility of climate change in the presidential election, culminating in a presidential forum featuring the major presidential candidates.

The CLCV Ed Fund works in close concert with its sister organization, the California League of Conservation Voters (CLCV), the political arm of the environmental movement.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

In the coming year, CLCV Ed Fund plans to expand these programs and create new programs. CLCV Ed Fund seeks a Development Assistant who will play an integral role in our growth. The Development Assistant will work closely with the Assistant Executive Director, providing support in identifying and cultivating donors and funders. In addition, the successful candidate will manage a full grant portfolio, researching corporate and foundation funders; guiding the funding prospect process, which includes submitting the initial inquiry, communicating regularly with funders, tracking progress of proposals, and developing and sending acknowledgements; and fulfilling obligations of the grant, such as managing the development of progress reports.

The Development Assistant will also provide input on how to expand funding base, develop strategies to attract new funders, and implement these strategies. This person will also create communication pieces to update current and prospective funders about our programs. Finally, the successful candidate will also assist with organizing and staffing development events.
